Michio Kaku’s Visions of the Future – The Biomolecular Revolution

Today on Discovery Enterprise we present the second episode of Michio Kaku’s Visions of the Future. In today’s installment we enter the brave new world of the biomolecular revolution.

Since this program first aired scientists under the leadership of J. Craig Venter, have succeeded in creating the first self-replicating synthetic life form. We are living on the cusp of a fantastic revolution that promises a future of unprecedented health and longevity: DNA screening could prevent many diseases, gene therapy could cure them and, thanks to lab-grown organs, the human body could be repaired as easily as a car, with spare parts readily available. Ultimately, the ageing process itself could be slowed down or even halted.
